The Tiaong Mathematics Institute 2011 is now open!

On its third year, the TMI 2011 is now accepting applications for its summer program. Participants are elementary and secondary students who are mathematically talented who have the motivation to learn mathematics at a faster and more advanced level. Moreover, they are students who have strong interest in mathematics.

John Paulo Atienza and Joemarie Teasdale, both from IV-LK, win this year's MTAP Challenge for the team category. The competition was held on 16 February 2011 in Pagbilao Central Elementary School in Pagbilao, Quezon. The pair bested 30 teams who qualified for this level. Coming in as close second is the pair from Gumaca National High School, which garnered 32 points, while Recto got 33 points. Third is the team from St. Joseph Academy of Sariaya, Quezon.

The pair will represent the division in the upcoming regional competition on 10 March 2011 to be held at Tanauan, Batangas.

Congratulations Paulo and Joemarie! You make RECTORIANS proud!

May 2010 be a peaceful, prosperous and meaningful year for all of us. Let the new year be a year of challenges, positive disposition and constructive activity.The days ahead may be rough and difficult, but let it not discourage each one to pursue our dreams. Hope is ever knocking in our hearts. And as long we have faith, we will conquer.

Yes guys! You read it right.

November is Mathematics Month. And the class is geared for a hectic sked in math. After the second periodical examination, the class will be preparing for the celebration.

As part of the celebration of the Mathematics Month and in line with the upcoming Division Math Fair, various activities are underway to celebrate mathematics.

Students will once again spice up their singing and dancing skills for the math jingle. Some will show their mastery of the Damath and Math Checkers boards. Still some will share their investigative ability in mathematical investigation. Students who are well adept with computer will take part in the PowerPoint presentation.

All these and more for the Mathematics Month in November.

Watch out for it and join the fun.

Hi guys!

Days from now you are about to hand in your mathematics portfolio. Definitely I only expect the best from each one of you. In this class you have experienced a lot and it is my fervent desire that you be exposed to more opportunities in mathematics and in life. As we often discussed, mathematics is about life. The numbers, equations and problems are simply life in symbols. They are rhetorics and that is how I like you to look at mathematics.

A mathematics portfolio is a collection of your best works in the class which showcases your mastery of skills and knowledge of mathematics, and your attitude towards the subject. Thus you are expected to present your work in a neat and organized manner and with evidence of pride in it.

Come 24 October 2009, Rectorians will compete in the qualifying stage of the Philippine Mathematical Olympiad in UPLB. PMO, held annually,  is highly competitive and the most prestigious of all math competittions. Sponsored by DOST and MSP, PMO encourages high school students to participate in the competition to select the best mathematics students to compete in the international version of the olympiad. In the last International Mathematical Olympiad, a Filipina took home a bronze medal.

From among the best mathematics students of RMNHS and after an examination given them, eight students have been selected for the PMO. The Recto Team is composed of Shiela Marie D. Asuncion of II-MCM, Reynaldo Chester D. De Alday of II-GC, Remon A. Artillaga (III-LU), John Paul B. Atienza (III-LU), Joemarie Q. Teasdale (III-LU), Jilven D. Albius (IV-PB), Chary Rose S. Orogo (IV-PB) and Errol James M. Tolentino (IV-PB).
